Spartans of UD highlights what makes University of Dubuque special – the people who live, work, and study on campus.

Brigette Kyei Nimakoh is the interim director of student conduct.

1. How did you end up at University of Dubuque?

“I went to a placement exchange event where I interviewed with UD. I really enjoyed my interview and I guess UD enjoyed it too. I got offered an on-campus interview. Upon my arrival to Dubuque, I was amazed by how beautiful the campus looked and how welcoming everyone was.”

2. What do you enjoy most about your role as interim director of student conduct?

“I enjoy getting the chance to educate and develop students and understand their stories.”

3. The African Student Association was one of the student organizations that hosted a Celebrating Cultural Heritage event during Spring Convocation and Celebration. As the advisor of African Student Association, what do you hope people gained from that experience?

“I hope people got the chance to experience African culture and see Africa for the rich, beautiful continent that it is.”

4. What advice do you have for students?

“My advice for students is to enjoy this time because before you know it, it will be time to graduate. Immerse yourself within this campus by getting to know faculty and staff, getting involved with a student organization, and breaking out from your friend group to meet other people. Surround yourself with people who will challenge, encourage, and empower you, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.”

5. What is your favorite spot on campus? Why?

“My favorite spot on campus is Heritage Center because I get the opportunity to see and engage with more students.”
