Division of Humanities
The Division of Humanities connects Philosophy, Politics, History, English, and Liberal Studies as a community of critical thinkers and persuasive storytellers. Small class sizes, active and engaged faculty, and interdisciplinary and extracurricular offerings are core elements of the student experience in the humanities divisions. With an emphasis on exploring the nuances of the human experience, preserving and understanding our shared histories, and examining the intricate aspects of ethics and creativity, the Division of Humanities prepares students to be active and engaged citizens while constructing the foundations for lifelong learning and inquiry.
Graduates of the distinct programs in the Division of Humanities pursue successful careers that foster human flourishing, such as law, community and nonprofit leadership, education, media, publishing, and counseling. Students leave programs in the Humanities with the ability to think critically and solve problems, communicate effectively to diverse audiences, analyze historical trends, and reflect with empathy and integrity on a life of purpose.

African American Studies (MINOR)
The African American Studies minor allows students the opportunity to understand the complex dynamics of race in America with a particular focus on experiences of African Americans. Students earning this minor will be equipped to think critically and sensitively about racial issues on individual, institutional, and societal levels.
