Thursday, October 17

Aviation Career Day

Kick off Homecoming with students, flight instructors, alumni pilot recruiters, and representatives from Air Wisconsin Airlines, Endeavor Air, Envoy Air, ExpressJet Airlines, GoJet Airlines, Republic Airways, SkyWest Airlines, Textron Aviation, and more! Join usfor refreshments and enjoy the fall view at the airport with aircraft stationary displays on the apron.

Dedication of the Ed Babka Learning Center
4:30 p.m. │ Ed Babka Aviation Learning Center, Airport Road, Dubuque, IA
Named in honor of the late Edward“Ed”Babka (DHL’98), a long-serving trustee and avid UD supporter, the state-of-the-art flight operations center ushers in a new era in aviation at UD. About double in size of the former flight center the 12,700-square-foot building houses classrooms, offices, flight simulators, flight review rooms, an unmanned aircraft system lab, a visitor lounge, and conference spaces. The site also includes a new flight ramp and room to add additional hangars in the future. A special thank you to alumni/ae and friends of the University who made this project possible.

Heritage Society Dinner

The Heritage Society honors those who have indicated University of Dubuque will receive a future investment from their estate. An invitation will be mailed to Heritage Society members.


Friday, October 18

Homecoming Registration - Spartan Welcome Center

Check-in and pick up your name tag, event tickets, and FREE Alumni T-shirt. Visit the photo station to take a photo with all of your friends and see who is at Homecoming! Check out the 1960s archives display and take a trip through time as we explore one of the most consequential decades in American history. Stop by the Spartan Welcome Center throughout the day for event details and snacks.

Hymn-Sing Chapel Service 
11:00 a.m. – 11:20 a.m. | Blades Chapel
Worship with alumni, faculty, staff, and students during this special Homecoming hymn-sing with Dr. Chuck Barland. Come sing your favorite hymns as we lift our praise to God.

50th Reunion Campus Tour and Lunch
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. | American Trust Lounge, Heritage Center
Tour guides David Proudfoot (C’73) and Jan Lombardi (C’72) invite members of the Class of 1969 and the surrounding classes for this special 1960s Reunion Tour. We will visit popular spots on campus from the 1960s and reminisce about the “good old days at the U” along the way. The tour will conclude with lunch in Alumni Hall. Note: Walking tour; golf carts available upon advanced request.

Sergeant Jeffrey B. Dodge Veterans Center Open House and Scholarship Presentation

Dedicated in 2015, the Sergeant Jeffrey B. Dodge Veterans Center is committed to providing support services for veterans studying on campus. At 2:30 p.m., the program will begin with an update from Rick Ernst, director of the veterans center, followed by the Sergeant Jeffrey B. Dodge and Staff Sergeant Ronald R. Sagers Memorial Scholarship presentations. 

Campus Tour

Take a walk down memory lane for this special“Then and Now”tour, led by David Proudfoot (C’73), Jan Lombardi (C’72), and a UD staff member. You’ll hear great stories and we hope you’ll share your favorite campus memories! The tour will conclude at Alumni Hall with light refreshments.

Homecoming Concert - The Doo Wop Project

The Doo Wop Project traces the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. Featuring tunes from the Crests, Belmonts, and Flamingos through the vocal artistry of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and The Four Seasons, to versions of modern hits by Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, and Sam Smith.

Spartan Fest continues immediately following the football game for an all alumni reunion. Join us under the “Big Tent” as we gather with fellow Spartans for a Homecoming celebration at Old Chicago. This is the perfect opportunity to mingle with alumni while enjoying refreshing beverages and tasty food at one of our favorite spots. Music will be provided by a DJ all night, with favorite songs from oldies to current pop, 90s to country. This is an exclusive UD event. Dinner included; cash bar will be available.

  • Delta Phi Sigma’s 100th Year Celebration In Celebration of their 100th year, members of the Deltas will be joining us for the Spartan Nation Reunion! The Eagle Point Conference Room has been designated as the private Delta Gathering space at the Best Western Plus, which is connected to Old Chicago. So grab some food in the tent and then meet up with fellow Deltas, reminisce on a century’s worth of memories, and enjoy the University’s Archives Display.
  • Phi Omicron and Friends Gathering as part of the Spartan Nation Reunion, the Phi-Os will be gathering in the Private Dining Room at Old Chicago. ALL SPARTANS are invited to join.
