#18-Ranked Spartans Men's Golf Third at Auggie Invite

The University of Dubuque men's golf team finished third overall (604), just a single stroke out of second place after tying for fourth after the opening day of the 2014 Augustana Golf Invitational played today at Pinnacle Country Club in Milan, Illinois. The #18-ranked Spartans tied with winner Indian Hills Community College for shooting the lowest round on the final day, a score of 297.

Spartans Split with IIAC Leaders

The University of Dubuque Baseball team split its doubleheader with league leading Wartburg College on Saturday at the UD Baseball Field. The Spartans won game two behind a strong pitching performance by Reed Stumpf. UD lost game one 4-3 after a Wartburg two-run home run in the top of the seventh.

Spartans Win Third Straight Game

The University of Dubuque Women's Lacrosse team braved near freezing temperatures on Monday afternoon en route to their third straight win. The Spartans 11-6 victory over Benedictine had to be moved to the Rock Bowl because of nearly four inches of rain over night. The six goals allowed by UD is the lowest single game total allowed in the programs two year history.

Valcin Wins Second Straight IIAC Track Performer of the Week Honors

University of Dubuque vaulter Rick Valcin earned his second straight Men's Outdoor Track & Field Performer of the Week award. Valcin won the pole vault at the UW-P Invite by clearing 16'-2.0" on his first attempt. He is undefeated during the outdoor season having won last week at the Wartburg Select where set posted a Division-III best height of 16'-4.75".

Spartans Softball Sweep Duhawks

The University of Dubuque softball team set a new record on Tuesday afternoon by capturing the 19th win of the season, a new school mark for the Spartans. UD swept past the Loras Duhawks by capturing the opening game 2-1 and ended the second game early after leading 9-0 in the fifth inning after UD's Hannah Koerperich threw her second no-hitter of the season. UD improved to 19-11 overall and 6-4 in the IIAC.

Spartans Sweep Good Friday Open

The University of Dubuque track and field teams hosted the 2014 University of Dubuque Good Friday Open on April 18. The Spartans claimed both the women's and men's team titles in near ideal conditions on the Douglas J. Miller track in Dubuque. The women won the meet with 164 points while the men cruised to a first place showing by finishing with 185 points.

Spartans on the Road at #21 BVU

The University of Dubuque Baseball team continued its toughest stretch of the season on Friday night with a doubleheader against #21 Buena Vista University. The Spartans undoing in both games was the defense with UD committing a combined nine errors. UD lost 8-1 in game one and 8-2 in game two. Will Fogel had three hits and two runs scores on the day.

Record Setting Day for UD Women's Lacrosse

The University of Dubuque Women's Lacrosse team had an outstanding day on Saturday with a 20-5 victory against Illinois Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans 20 goals set a new school record while their five goals allowed was a new record for fewest goals allowed in a game. Bridget Schirmers eight goals tied the school record for individual goals in a game.

IIAC Performer of the Week Honors for McKenzie

University of Dubuque junior Nickolette McKenzie was named Women's Outdoor Track & Field (Field) Performer of the Week. McKenzie won the triple jump and long jump at the UD Good Friday Open. Her winning leap of 11.17m (36'-7.75") in the triple jump ranks 33rd in Division-III and leads the Iowa Conference.

Spartans Softball Move Into Second Place

The University of Dubuque softball clinched an IIAC tournament spot last week and on Tuesday the Spartans moved to within one game of the conference lead after sweeping the Wartburg College Knights by scores of 9-5 and 8-4. The Spartans improved to 8-4 in the IIAC and trail the league leading Coe Kohawks (9-3) with just one conference doubleheader left.
