Five Spartans Named All-IIAC Softball

The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced its All-Conference Teams and major awards for the 2014 softball season with five Spartans earning recognition. Senior Amber Meyer and sophomore Ainsley Billesbach were named First Team All-IIAC. A trio of Spartans earned Second Team All-IIAC with Caitlin Aulwes, Hannah Koerperich, and Amanda Williams making the cut. UD finished the season with a school record 22 wins and qualified for the IIAC Tournament for the second straight year.

UD's Dobratz Wins Decathlon at Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships

University of Dubuque's Tyler Dobratz captured the men's decathlon title at the Iowa Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a school record 6,155 points on Friday afternoon at Carlson Stadium on the campus of Luther College. Dobratz won by 142 points behind first place finishes in the shot put and discus. Nickolette McKenzie earned All-IIAC honors with a runner-up finish in the long jump.

Spartans Claim Six Individual Titles, 18 All-IIAC Performances

The University of Dubuque Track & Field teams claimed six individual titles and earned 18 All-Iowa Conference performances at the 2014 IIAC Outdoor Track Championships at Luther College. In addition, the Spartans set six new school records. Rick Valcin won two events and earned All-IIAC in four events. Nickolette McKenzie won the women's triple jump and was all-conference in four events. The UD men finished in fourth place with 121 points while the women were fifth with 79 points.

Billesbach & Koerperich Named NFCA All-Midwest Region

The University of Dubuque Softball team had two student-athletes named to the 2014 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division-III All-Midwest Region Team. The Spartans Ainsley Billesbach and Hannah Koerperich were Third Team All-Region selections.

2014 Chlapaty Fellows Selected

Sixteen University of Dubuque students have been designated as Joseph and Linda Chlapaty Fellows for 2014. Selected by a faculty committee, the students will carry out their Fellowship projects the summer of 2014.

Odegard & Wolfe Named Ping All-Central Region

University of Dubuque Men's Golfers Martin Odegard and Eric Wolfe were named to the 2014 Division-III Ping All-Central Region Team. The Spartans seniors are currently competing at the NCAA D-III Championships at Grandover Resort and Conference Center. A total of 92 student-athletes from six regions were honored by the Golf Coaches Association of America and Ping. Odegard and Wolfe each graduate as the only four-time All-Iowa Conference honorees in UD Men's Golf history.

The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced its all-conference teams and major awards for the 2014 Baseball season with four University of Dubuque student-athletes earning recognition. The Spartans Daniel Casanova was named First Team All-IIAC Outfielder. Eddie Pablo and Vince Parisi were Second Team selections while Justin Naval earned honorable mention.

Spartans Share American Football with France

The University of Dubuque football team is preparing to pack their travel bags as the spring semester winds down and fly to Spain and France for a nine-day tour (May 20-28, 2014). Sightseeing intertwined with a football game against the Toulouse Bears in Toulouse, France. The Spartans will spend most of their time visiting sights around Barcelona, Spain, including an excursion to Montserrat Mountain Monastery.

Spartans Compete at 2014 NCAA Men's Golf Championships

The University of Dubuque Men's Golf Team advanced to the compete among the best of the best in Division-III at the NCAA D-III Men's Golf Championships at the Grandover Resort. The Spartans dream season ended after Round 2, as they were tied for 29th, failing to make the cut. The highlight of the first two rounds of the championships was Martin Odegard making a hole-in-one on the par three, 12th hole on the East Course. As a team, UD finished with a score of 624 (309-315) which was +48 over par.
