The Master of Arts in Mission and Discipleship (MAMD) trains followers of Jesus to empower others to join the mission of God in a variety of callings. This flexible degree includes four or more electives as well as courses in Bible, theology and church history, disciple formation, mission, as well as an internship and capstone project.

Our MAMD graduates are equipped to pursue a wide range of callings as ministers of outreach, urban ministry, new church development, young adult ministry, teaching, or work with parachurch organizations.

Program Distinctive

  • The MAMD can be earned in two years in residence in Dubuque, Iowa or online with brief residency classes.
  • Several of our faculty have special expertise in the area of mission, and many other professors intentionally teach toward this emphasis.

Admission to the Master of Arts in Mission and Discipleship

  • For admission into the Master of Arts in Mission and Discipleship program, we encourage a broad baccalaureate preparation. Studies in world history, philosophy, languages and literature, the natural sciences, the social sciences, music and other fine arts, and religion are recommended. In special cases, applicants to Master of Arts degree programs who do not meet all the academic qualifications, may be admitted on provisional student status.
  • Applicants will complete an application; submit required essays; provide documentation of work history, official transcripts, and letters of recommendation. A background check is required for all applicants. Applications for degree programs are reviewed without prejudicial regard to race, ethnic origin, sex, marital status, citizenship, physical handicap or age.
