Is Marching Band an academic course?
Yes! Marching Band is an academic course. All University of Dubuque students who join the band must enroll in MUSC: 210-03. One credit hour is awarded for participation.

What is the time commitment?
All members attend a one-week band camp before the start of fall semester. Preseason camp consists of full-day rehearsals for the length of the camp. During fall semester, the Marching Spartans rehearse two days a week: Mondays 4:00-6:00 p.m. and Wednesdays 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Chalmers Field and at Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC). Rehearsals are scheduled at a time of day when few classes meet. The Marching Spartans perform at all home football games (which are on Saturdays) and other special events on campus. Before select football games, the band gathers for a rehearsal/warmup on the field.

What is the attendance policy?
Marching band is a credit-bearing semester-long course. Attendance at band camp, all home football games, all special event appearances, and bi-weekly rehearsals until the end of the season is required.
