Atwater and Malm Pick Up USTFCCCA Central Region Awards

University of Dubuque track and field’s Tanasha Atwater was named 2018 Central Regional Women’s Field Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). UD assistant coach Jake Malm, was also voted Assistant Coach of the Year for his work.

Wrap-Up of Record Breaking Baseball Season

The 2018 University of Dubuque baseball season was one for the record books. The program won their first Iowa Conference Regular Season and Tournament Titles, and qualified for the program’s first regional, while breaking 31 school records in the process.

Murfin Highlights Day One of NCAA Championships

The University of Dubuque track and field teams kicked off the first day of the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday, with the 12 Spartans participating in five events. Blaze Murfin started his weekend on a strong note, earning All-American honors in the discus after a third place finish.

Friday was a successful day at the Track and Field Championships for the Spartans. Blaze Murfin became the second national title in the history of the men’s program by winning the shot put. Tanasha Atwater also grabbed All-American honors by finishing third in the women’s shot put.

UD vs. Loras Softball NFCA Strike Out Cancer Game Raises Over $7,000

The University of Dubuque and Loras College softball teams have joined forces since 2012 in conjunction with National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) in raising funds for the Strike Out Cancer initiative. In 2018, the two schools raised their most ever, $7.059.70 which pushes their total raised since 2012 to $21, 215.96.

The University of Dubuque claimed two members of the ABCA All-Central Region Team in 2018. Chase Kueter (RHP, R/R, 6-2, 185, Jr., Bellevue, Iowa/Bellevue H.S.) and fellow pitcher Nathan Schneiderman (LHP, L/L, 6-5, 220, Jr., German Valley, Ill./Forreston H.S.) earned the prestigious honors for the Spartans.

Kueter Named ABCA/Rawlings Golden Glove Honoree

Standout Chase Kueter Chase Kueter (RHP, R/R, 6-2, 185, Jr., Bellevue, Iowa/Bellevue H.S.) earned the 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III Golden Glove as the pitcher on the team. Just nine members earn the Golden Glove Award and he was the only pitcher and Iowan to achieve the honor in 2018.
