Breimon and Herbig Set School Records at Sol Butler Classic

The University of Dubuque Women's Track and Field team set a pair of school records at the 2014 Sol Butler Classic. The Spartans also picked up an individual win and relay victory on Saturday on the A.Y. McDonald Indoor Track inside Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center. The UD women finished third of six teams.

Spartans Off to Best Start Ever 15-0!

The University of Dubuque men's basketball team is off to it's best start in school history with a 15-0 record and a perfect 4-0 record in league play. Saturday's match-up of unbeatens in Iowa Conference play with Buena Vista University and UD entered the contest both with 3-0 records. The Spartans faced a strong test in the Beavers and the game swapped leads 13 times and was tied another nine times with neither team leading by more than a handful of points. UD took the lead with 11 seconds remaining on a lay-up and foul 65-63. The Beavers had an open three for the win, but it fell short and the long rebound landed in the hands of the Spartans to remain unblemished with the 65-63 victory.

Spartans Remain Perfect in IIAC Action

The University of Dubuque Women's Basketball team continued its strong start to the Iowa Conference season with a 26 point victory on Saturday afternoon. The Spartans 91-65 victory against Buena Vista University was their seventh straight IIAC regular season victory. Stephany Remakel finished the game with 12 points on six of seven shooting while also pulling down four rebounds and blocking two shots.

Zurbuchen Wins 55m Hurdles at Sol Butler Classic

The University of Dubuque Men's Track and Field team put together a strong performance in the field events with 43 total points coming in the six field events. Senior Evan Zurbuchen won the 55m Hurdles for the lone UD men's victory. The Dubuque men finished in fourth place of six teams with 85 points.

IIAC Athlete of the Week Honors for Norris

The University of Dubuque forward Andre Norris was named IIAC Athlete of the Week. Norris was also named Men's Basketball Performer of the Week for the fourth time this season. Norris averaged 15.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game as UD improved to 15-0. The Spartans are one of five undefeated teams remaining in Division-III.

The University of Dubuque Track & Field program swept the Iowa Conference Track & Field (Track) Performer of the Week awards with Evan Zurbuchen and Taylor Cary earning the honor. Zurbuchen and Cary each won the 55m Hurdles at the Sol Butler Classic. Men's Basketball player Andre Norris was named IIAC Male Athlete of the Week/Men's Basketball Performer of the Week.

University of Dubuque Music Faculty Member, Dr. Charles Barland to present A Celebration of the British Musical Tradition

University of Dubuque music professor and University Organist, Dr. Charles Barland, will present A Celebration of the British Musical Tradition at Wartburg Theological Seminary on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. The recital will take place in the Seminary’s Loehe Chapel, and will feature organ works of British composers and traditions along with choral works by the University of Dubuque Concert Choir, also under the direction of Dr. Barland.

Spartans Ranked 25th by D3hoops

After six weeks of receiving votes, the University of Dubuque Men's Basketball team has jumped into the national rankings at #25 in the D3hoops.com Top 25. The 15-0 Spartans are one of five undefeated teams remaining in Division-III. UD has used a balanced scoring attack with four individuals averaging double digit points per game to rank 33rd in D-III in scoring offense at 83.3 points per game.

Heritage Center, the University of Dubuque’s performing arts, worship, and campus center, will present The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favorites, performed by the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, on Sunday, February 16, at 2:00 p.m. This triple-bill performance includes the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s metamorphosis into a beautiful butterfly, the fanciful account of Little Cloud’s travels through the sky, and the Mixed-up Chameleon’s discovery of his own unique nature.

Spartans Fall on the Road

The scoreboard did not tell the entire story for the University of Dubuque Women's Basketball team on Wednesday night. Despite an eight point loss, UD was within one as late as the four minute mark of the second half while the game also featured nine lead changes and 13 tied game situations. The Spartans 85-77 loss to Coe was their first of the conference season.

Sweet 16-0 for #25-ranked Spartan Men's Basketball

The #25-ranked University of Dubuque men's basketball team earned a hard fought road victory on Wednesday night, beating the host Coe College Kohawks in Eby Fieldhouse by a 66-56 score. The Spartans never trailed in their 16th win of the season and improved to 5-0 in the IIAC.

African Heritage Week 2014

February 10-14, 2014 will mark African Heritage Week at the University of Dubuque. The week-long cultural experience, sponsored by the University's Office of Multicultural Student Engagement, will showcase the history, experiences, and culture throughout the African diaspora. Simmons Named Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach

The University of Dubuque has named Tyler Simmons as Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach. Simmons has been part of the Spartans football staff for three seasons and first as a graduate assistant. Simmons served as the linebackers coach in 2013 after being an assistant linebacker coach the previous two seasons.

Iowa Conference Duals Hosted by Buena Vista

The #28-ranked Spartans finished 2-1 in dual meets at one half of the Iowa Conference Duals hosted by Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. UD edged out Central College 23-15 in the first round. UD beat the host Beavers in the second round by a 24-18 score and lost to the #1-ranked Wartburg in the third round 0-43.

Spartans Drop Rivalry Game

The University of Dubuque Women's Basketball team dropped the first of two rivalry games against crosstown foe Loras College. The Spartans 72-64 road loss on Saturday afternoon was their second straight loss. Down 11 at halftime, UD outscored the Duhawks 38-35 in the second half. Jenna Kotas was the leading scorer for UD with 19 points. Dubuque is now 11-6 overall and sits in third place in the Iowa Conference at 4-2.

The Spartans began the weekend with a Friday night meet at the Prairie Wolf Invitational at Nebraska Wesleyan, home of the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. Rick Valcin vaulted his way to the top of the D-III performance list on Friday night with a final clearance heigth of 4.95m (16' 2.75") in the pole vault.

UW-Whitewater Faculty Piano Trio to Perform in University of Dubuque’s Heritage Center

Valcin Chosen IIAC Performer of the Week

University of Dubuque pole vaulter Rick Valcin was named IIAC Men's Indoor Track & Field (Field) Performer of the Week. Valcin vaulted himself into the number one spot on the Division-III performance list in the pole vault by clearing 4.95m (16' 2.75") at the Prairie Wolf Indoor Invitational at Nebraska Wesleyan. The junior vaulter broke his own school record by 9.75" at Nebraska Wesleyan, home of the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

UD Basketball - LIVE on KCRG 9.2

The University of Dubuque Men's and Women's Basketball doubleheader against Simpson College will air LIVE on KCRG 9.2 on Wednesday, January 29th. The games are a part of an ongoing agreement between the Iowa Conference (IIAC) and the Cedar Rapids Television Company (CRTC) to televise IIAC games live. KCRG 9.2 is a digital subchannel of KCRG-TV9, the ABC affiliate in Eastern Iowa which is owned by CRTC. The women's game tips off at 6:00 pm with the men to follow.

Heritage Center, the University of Dubuque’s performing arts, worship, and campus center, continues its inaugural Live at Heritage Center Performing Arts Series with Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451,performed by the Aquila Theatre of New York, on Tuesday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m. Based on the novel of the same name published in 1953, Fahrenheit 451 follows the story of a young firefighter who burns books for a living – but an encounter with a young, eccentric woman spurs him to question his job and the oppressive society he lives in.
