The Spartans set a school record with 20 wins last season while advancing to the IIAC Tournament Championship Game. UD returns four starters from last season record setting team.

Men's Cross Country at NCAA Division III Regionals

The University of Dubuque Men's Cross Country team finished in 25th place of 26 teams at the NCAA Division III Central Regional Championships, hosted by St. Olaf College. The Spartans top finisher on the 8,000 meter course was Payton Nevills in 62nd place overall at 26:43.32. A total of 181 runners competed on Saturday morning at the St. Olaf Course through campus.

Spartans Bitten by Beavers in Final Minute

The University of Dubuque football team would like to get three minutes back this season. On the road at the Buena Vista University Beavers on Saturday, the Spartans were feeling confident leading by nine points with 5:22 left of the game 28-19. BV used a nine play 60 yard drive in 2:29 to pull within two points 26-28 on a two yard touchdown run. The Beavers attempted an onside kick and successfully recovered with 2:47 remaining. BV used five plays and moved the ball to the Spartan 15 yard line for the 25 yard field goal and it was good for the lead 29-28. UD would get the ball with just 58 seconds left and moved the ball down to the BV 25 yardline. The Spartans aired it out to the endzone and the pass was incomplete as time ran out, 29-28 favoring BV. For the second week in a row, the host Beavers captured the win in the final minute. The two teams would finish the Iowa Conference 4-3.

Spartans Lose Shootout 81-78

The University of Dubuque Women's Basketball team came out firing in the 2013-14 opener on Saturday night at the Edgewood College Tipoff Classic. The Spartans lost the high scoring affair with UW-Platteville, 81-78. Jenna Kotas led four Spartans in double figures with 20 points. UD led 40-35 at the half.

Spartans Open Dual Meet Season

The University of Dubuque wrestling team opened their dual meet schedule on Saturday, Nov. 16. The Spartans dropped the first match to the host Vikings vy a 13-22 score, but rallied back to beat Knox College in the second dual of the afternoon by a score of 40-12.

Spartans Win Showdown with Northwestern

The University of Dubuque Men's Basketball team won a matchup of 2013 NCAA Division III Tournament qualifers on Saturday night. The Spartans won 85-81 over Northwestern-St. Paul in the final game of the Northwestern/ACR Homes Tip-Off Classic. UD shot 60.8% from the field and 63.6% from beyond the arc in the victory. Dubuque is 2-0 on the year.

The University of Dubuque Women's Cross Country team finished in 23rd place of 27 teams at the NCAA Division III Central Regional Championships, hosted by St. Olaf College. The Spartans top finisher on the 6,000 meter course was Rachael Busjahn in 102nd place overall at 24:33.64. A total of 186 runners competed on Saturday morning at St. Olaf.

Spartans Score 90 in Victory

The University of Dubuque Women's Basketball team scored the highest point total since Coach Mark Noll took over the program in 2007. The Spartans 90-83 victory over Edgewood College (0-2) marked the most points scored since UD scored 100 points against Mt. Mary College on November 30, 2006. Freshman Emily Brinker led Dubuque with 18 points as 16 different Spartans scored in the contest.

Norris Named IIAC Men's Basketball Performer of the Week

University of Dubuque sophomore Andre Norris was named IIAC Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week. Norris averaged 20.0 points per game while shooting 68.2% (15-22) from the field in two Spartans victories last week. UD went 2-0 last week at the Northwestern.ACR Homes Tip-Off Classic.

Winkler Named All-IIAC Men's Soccer

University of Dubuque senior Cory Winkler has been named Second Team All-Iowa Conference. Winkler led the Spartans with seven goals this season. A trio of Spartans earned Honorable Mention All-Iowa Conference with junior Peter Hager, sophomore Jonathan Hazelwonder, and freshman Gonzalo Hernandez being selected.

A trio of Spartans earned First Team All-IIAC with Megan Siepler, Lauren Waddell, and Alexandra Watkins being honored. Tiffany Duncan, Kelsey Graefen, and Melanie Prudhomme were selected Second Team All-IIAC.

Five Spartans Named First Team All-IIAC Football

The University of Dubuque placed five student-athletes on the First Team All-Iowa Conference with four coming from the offensive side of the ball. The Spartans defense had one First Team performer and three Second Team honorees. Earning First Team All-IIAC were Kyle Acker, Bryan Bradshaw, Dominique Ravenell, Tyler Rutenbeck, and Blaine Snitker. All five First Team selections are first time honorees.

Spartans Place 57 on Fall Iowa Conference All-Academic Team

The University of Dubuque placed 57 Student-Athletes on the 2013-14 Fall Academic All-Iowa Conference Team. To be eligible for the IIAC All-Academic Team a Student-Athlete must compete at the varsity level, be least a sophomore in academic standing, have attended the nominating institution for at least one academic year, and attain a 3.5 or better grade point average. The UD Football team had an IIAC best 18 student-athletes qualify. On the women's side, UD was led by the soccer team with 11 qualifiers.

UD Forms Partnership with University of Iowa College of Law

UD Mediation Team Nationally Ranked

Michaelis Scores 1,000 Career Point in Spartans Win

he University of Dubuque Men's Basketball team advanced to the Championship Game of the Carthage College Classic on Friday night with a 79-76 victory against Benedictine (Ill.). Spartans senior Mitch Michaelis became the 20th Men's Basketball player with 1,000 Career Points with 14 first half points. The second half was all Andre Norris as he scored 20 of his career high 27 points in the final 20 minutes. Dubuque moved to 4-0 on the year.

Delta Phi Sigma to Host Ugly Sweater 5K Run/Walk

University of Dubuque student organization Delta Phi Sigma will host an Ugly Sweater 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, December 8. This non-timed event for fun and charity will benefit Dubuque’s local Toys for Tots Foundation. Participants are invited to grab their ugliest sweater (not required, but recommended) or other festive clothing, lace up their running shoes, and join the fun on a scenic Grandview Avenue route.

Kubica Leads Spartans at Concordia Open

The University of Dubuque wrestling team competed at the 21st Annual Concordia University Open Wrestling meet on Saturday, Nov. 23. The Spartans were led by Joseph Kubica who finished 3rd at 165 lbs. Nick Drendel placed 5th at 149lbs. with three falls. Kody Krenz capped off the afternoon with three wins by falls at 133 lbs.

The University of Dubuque Women's Basketball team tied the school record for points in a game as 15 Spartans scored in the contest. UD pushed the tempo early and did not look back as they beat Bethany Lutheran 110-81 on Saturday afternoon inside the Stoltz Sports Center. The Spartans were led offensively by Jenna Kotas with 21 points. Dubuque improved to 2-1 on the year.

The Spartans tied the school record for points scored in a game with 110 last week and broke the record tonight with a 112-89 victory over the Blackburn College Beavers.

UD Men's Basketball Receives Votes in D3hoops Top 25

The University of Dubuque Men's Basketball team is off to a 5-0 start to the 2013-14 Season and it is not going unnoticed. The Spartans, winners of 12 of their last 13 games dating back to last season, received votes (8 points) in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll for Week 1. UD is averaging 87.2 points per game, the 43rd highest points per game total in Division-III. Dubuque currently has five players averaging double figure points per game.
