The University of Dubuque women's soccer team remains ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) North Region poll released this week. The Spartans dropped from 7th to 9th this week after losing a 0-1 contest on the road last Saturday. UD is 12-4 overall and tied for first place in the Iowa Conference with a 3-1 record.

Folk Singer Carrie Newcomer Takes Center Stage at UD’s Heritage Center

Heritage Center, the University of Dubuque’s performing arts, worship, and campus center, will host folk singer/songwriter-guitarist Carrie Newcomer on Friday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. Carrie marks her UD debut with piano accompaniment by Gary Walters, and a special guest appearance by the UD Gospel Choir. The performance is part of a week-long artist residency at UD for the performer, during which she will participate in worship services, hold public workshops, and work with student writers, actors, and musicians.

Volleyball Falls to Pair of WIAC Foes

The University of Dubuque will play host to a double-dual tournament on Friday night hosted in McCormick Gymansium and in Stoltz Sports Center on the Campus of the University of Dubuque. Teams competeing are: UD, Loras College, UW-Platteville, and UW-Whitewater. Games times are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The University of Dubuque football team used a fake punt to nearly score in the first half after a gain of 26 yards by Mitch Michaelis. The play helped set-up a 25 yard touchdown pass from Zach Fry to Tyler Rutenbeck just six plays later. The #6-ranked Knights offense never slowed down as they scored all four chances inside the red zone on Saturday to defeat the Spartans 42-9.

he University of Dubuque football team for the second year in a row, fell victim to a late drive by the Buena Vista University Beavers in a hearbreaking loss on Chalmers Field by a 39-44 score. UD took a late lead 39-37 on a 34 yard Curtis Prull fieldgoal with 1:40 remaining in the game. The tenacious Beavers used just 1:01 to claw their way back into the lead on a couple of long pass plays and scored on a two yard run with :36 left in the game 44-39. A Shaun Grewal 32 yard kick-off return from the Spartan goal line gave the Spartans hope with :30 seconds left.

Tuesday night, Head Coach Jason Berna earned what he has been wanting since he started the soccer programs at UD, an IIAC Title. In an exciting 2-1 game over the Luther College Norse the Spartans claimed the #1 seed in the IIAC Tournament by claiming the first IIAC title in Spartans history.
